At 11,000 feet (3400 meters) it’s a good idea to take precautions to avoid altitude sickness, which is called soroche here in Perú.

The official currency is the Nuevo sol, symbolized, as S/. most businesses also accept US Dollars at the daily exchange rate.
The climate of Cusco is cool and semi-dry 19°C in the normal high temperature and 4° C the low. It’s warm during the day and colder at night the coolest time of year is from june til September.
Taxis:
It’s best to have the doorman call your taxi. Don’t take taxis on the street. You don’t have to tip.
Security: Cusco is a safe city, but in all cities, tourist appear affluent and it is best to take precautions in order to avoid problems. Ask at the reception desk of the hotel wiracocha about which sections should be avoided.
Vacinations: No vacinations are required to enter Perú. However, if you are planning an traveling to the Amazon jungle, it would be wise to consult your physician.
